Meeting was called to order by President Marty Brown at 7:15 p.m.
Minutes from the April 22, 2010 board meeting were reviewed and approved.
Treasurer’s Report
George Jackson provided a report to Marty. Revenues are similar to those in 2009. Safe deposit box has been closed and board must decide whether to open a smaller one.
Membership
- Meg reported that membership directories have been printed and are available for pick-up in the Paddle Hut. The cost for printing 130 directories was $200 at Staples in Parsippany.
- There are 95 membership entries in the book this year.
House and Grounds
- Chas noted that new “Please Sweep After Playing” signs are needed for the courts. Meg to provide.
- Chas reported that some paddle court screens need to be replaced. Reilly Green Mountain has provided paddle court care in the past, but Chas will look into another firm: National Platform Tennis in Port Chester, NY.
- Chas repaired the roller which is nearly 50 years old. Its blades need to be replaced, as well as some other minor parts. A new roller costs approximately $7,500.
- Someone vandalized the tractor mower by putting gas in the oil crank shaft. Chas spent considerable time fixing the mower, but it still needs work.
- Dan McFadden, a high school student, has been hired as our maintenance man for this summer. He will work 15-20 hours per week at $12 per hour. Chas and Nick Roccaforte will oversee his work.
- Heide Wolfe and her husband volunteered and planted the flowers in the pots near the tennis courts. They look beautiful.
- Some discussion about restrooms and ventilation. Chas will look into flooring options (plastic grates?) and fans that would direct air outside the rooms.
- Nick Roccaforte arranged for Culligan to provide bottled water to the Club this year. He received three quotes and Culligan was the lowest. Extra bottles are kept in the men’s room.
Advertising
- Sign on Route 46 – Jerry left a message with Mr. Parmigiani, the owner of the Prudential building on Rt. 46, to discuss putting up a sign.
Social Committee
- Sunday, June 13 is date for the first summer social and John Catlett is coordinating it. Nick Roccaforte has offered to play music during the social.
- Tennis scrambles – Meg will send an email to the membership announcing the beginning of the weekend tennis scrambles. Scrambles run on Saturday and Sundays from 10-1 and are open to all members. Meg provided a new notebook for listing scrambles and for guest sign-ins.
Tennis Teams
The Saturday morning mixed team and Wednesday morning ladies team are both doing well.
Meeting adjourned at 8:05 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Meg Richards, Board Secretary
